Kimbel Library to hold Edible Book Fair

April 1, 2010

Coastal Carolina University will celebrate National Library Week with events on Monday, April 12, Wednesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 15. National Library Week is held as a reminder of the contributions libraries, librarians and library workers make to their communities every day. The events are free and open to the public.

Events will include:

* Edible Book Fair from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 12

University faculty, staff and students will submit their own edible book creations, and these will be on display while participants vote for their favorite books. The edible books will be all or partially edible and can look like a book in form and shape, be inspired by a book or author, be a pun of a book title, refer to a book character, reproduce a book cover or just have something to do with books in general. Cake will be served throughout the event for all to enjoy.

Submissions will be accepted up to the morning of the fair. Contact John Watts at jwatts@coastal.edu or extension 2650 to submit.

* Pizza and Crafts from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14

Come to Kimbel Library to enjoy pizza while making crafts such as origami, paper marbling and wish bracelets.

* Play it up game night from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 15

Four projection screens will be used for Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Other games will be available such as, board games, cards and puzzles. Participants are also welcome to bring their own favorites.
