Welcome Week events scheduled at CCU
Orientation and welcoming activities will be held before classes begin on Wednesday, Aug. 18. Move-in Day will begin with residence hall check-in from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in each campus residential community. A drive to recycle cardboard boxes and other recyclable materials will be conducted by the Sustainability Initiative, a universitywide program that promotes environmental practices.
A New Student Convocation will be held on Prince Lawn at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16 to welcome new students to the University. Michael Roberts, dean of the College of Science, will deliver the convocation address. He will discuss the 2010 Big Read book, “The Brief History of the Dead,” by Kevin Brockmeier. He will also discuss how the book relates to the new honor pledge, which covers academic dishonesty, personal responsibility and integrity.
Various other activities are planned as part of the Fall Orientation program, including First Year Experience (FYE) classes, sessions for parents, a COPS cookout for students hosted by the Department of Public Safety, a CINO (Coastal Is Number One) rally, “CINO Live” band performance, tips from peers and more.
