CCU announces Mentoring Golf Tournament

September 23, 2010

The Dalton & Linda Floyd Family Mentoring Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 2 at Quail Creek Golf Course at Coastal Carolina University. The tournament is open to the public at $125 per person or $500 per four-person team.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with breakfast provided by Eggs Up Grill.

The tournament will raise funds for the Dalton and Linda Floyd Family Mentoring Program scholarship fund. The program, now in its fifth year, pairs CCU students with students in the public schools of Horry and Georgetown counties. The presenting sponsor for the event is H. James Johnson Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Team of Myrtle Beach.

Prior to the shotgun start at 10 a.m., the University’s PGA Professional Golf Management students will offer clinics in putting, chipping, sand, short irons, long irons and woods.

In addition, three new golf holes will be formally opened Saturday morning during a dedication ceremony. The 30- to 45-yard-holes on the lawn area in front of the clubhouse are designed to provide a short-game practice area for students enrolled in the PGA Golf Management program. The short course will also support junior golf programs at the University.

A cocktail reception and silent auction, included in registration costs, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1 in the Adkins Field House at CCU.

Participants can register online at www.coastal.edu/cec/.
