CCU announces Office for Philanthropy, interim VP
Holland reports to the president and is responsible for seeking and securing external funding in support of the University's mission and strategic direction encompassing all areas of the University including academics and athletics.
Holland leads the new Office for Philanthropy, which seeks to unite alumni and friends of the University, engage constituents from across the state and beyond, and collaborate with deans, faculty, staff, boards and friends to secure a solid future for the University. Holland’s position has been crafted with absolute focus on external fundraising performance, rather than the traditional blend with internal advancement services.
“With more families struggling to afford higher education, it is critical that we secure funds that will support our students in the way of scholarships, as well as to compensate for diminishing funding from the state in our quest to attract world-class faculty and operate this University,” said DeCenzo. “Private funding is the difference between good and great – and the long-held dream of Coastal Carolina University is to become a great University.”
Holland has more than 20 years of experience in a university setting in fundraising, and as a football coach and student-athlete. He also has extensive experience in sales and was president of a start-up communications company. He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Clemson University in 1975.
