CCU announces new sustainability coordinator

Coastal Carolina University alumna Jennifer Sellers has been named the campus’ new sustainability coordinator.

Sellers, who graduated from the University in 2000, will be responsible for helping to implement the initiative's goal of transforming Coastal Carolina University into a more environmentally friendly university.

Sellers has some 10 years of experience, education and knowledge in the green and sustainability industry. Since 2004, she has coordinated recycling education and programs at the Horry County Waste Authority. She presented “Health Recycling” at the 2010 S.C. Public Health Association Conference.

Sellers received the 2009 Recyclers of the Year award from the Carolina Recycling Association and was named the 2009 South Carolina Recycling Professional of the Year. She earned a Master of Applied Science in environmental policy and management from Denver University and is a certified South Carolina recycling professional.

As sustainability coordinator, Sellers will also supervise members of the Eco-Reps and Green Team, programs of student workers.
