CCU students win awards in graphic design
Twenty-eight student ADDYs were awarded to 16 CCU students at the annual awards ceremony held in Myrtle Beach on Feb. 10.
CCU graduate Joe Cusamano was awarded the Special Judges Award as well as a Gold ADDY for his work “Nutrition Facts System Redesign.” Cusamano also received a Gold ADDY for his Deconstruction Poster.
Senior Kayla Looysen was awarded two Gold and three Silver ADDYs for some of her work in Tempo Magazine, CCU’s student-produced magazine, and the CCU Student Handbook as well as for her Spice Labels and Military Playing Cards. Ursula Hockman, Alicia Rancier and Tiffany Waldorf also earned multiple awards. Other Gold ADDY recipients include BK Astrini, Ryan Cirignano, Matt Gray, John Minor, Matt Parise and Allie Tague. Silver ADDY recipients include Ryan D’Alessandro, Tracy Fish, Abby Fleet, Shantelle Patterson, Nicole Scott, Andrea Silvernale and Savannah Todd.
Two university publications were recognized as well. Tempo Magazine earned two Gold ADDY awards for the Spring 2011 and Fall 2011 issues, and Archarios, the student literary art magazine, earned a Gold ADDY for the 2011 issue (designed by Allie Tague) and a Silver ADDY for the 2012 poster campaign (designed by Ursula Hockman).
The local Student ADDY Awards are presented for the most outstanding student work in the Coastal Carolinas region. The region includes Florence, Georgetown and Myrtle Beach areas as well as Wilmington, N.C. The Gold winners of these local ADDYs will now be forwarded to broader district competition and a chance to compete for national recognition and awards.
