CCU Musical Theatre and Dance Companies to showcase talent

Coastal Carolina University’s Dance and Musical theatre companies have collaborated to produce a showcase of popular Broadway numbers scheduled for two nights. Performances are on Sunday, April 15, and Monday, April 16, both at 7:30 p.m., in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Large production numbers to be performed are: “Aquarius” from “ Hair,” “Simply Irresistible” from “Contact” and “Step in Time” from “Mary Poppins.” Also on the bill are “I’m a Woman” from the Broadway Musical Review “Smoky Joe’s Café,” “Me and My Girl” from the musical of the same name," “Life of the Party” from the musical "The Wild Party" and “I’ll be Seeing You” from “Swing.” Other songs will be performed from the musicals “Chicago,” “Movin’ Out” and “Spamalot.”

Barbara Hartwig, CCU resident artist in dance and choreography, is in charge of choreographing and staging the production numbers, while musical director and CCU associate professor of theatre Steven Gross oversees vocals and accompaniment duties. The showcase is made up of the 10-member musical theatre company and the 14-member dance company.

General admission tickets are $3. CCU and Horry Georgetown Technical College students can receive one free ticket per valid ID. CCU and HGTC faculty/staff can receive two free tickets per valid ID. Children 10 and under are admitted free with a ticket, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located on 107 Founders Drive on the CCU campus.
