CCU Department of Theatre to present 'Pippin'

January 22, 2013

Join Coastal Carolina University's Department of Theatre as it presents "Pippin," running Jan. 31 through Feb. 9 at the Wheelwright Auditorium. The Tony Award-winning musical, set in the Middle Ages, will be directed and choreographed by CCU artist-in-residence Barbara Hartwig.

Pippin, the son of Charlemagne, is a young prince coming of age in an era rife with war, sexual temptation and political intrigue. In Pippin's journey to find ultimate fulfillment, he discovers the most important element in life is love and family.

Based on a book by Roger O. Hirson, the musical features a lively score written by Tony and Oscar-winning composer Stephen Schwartz. The show is filled with show stopping numbers such as "Magic to Do" and "Morning Glow." Schwartz's other work includes the hit musicals "Wicked," "Godspell," "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "The Prince of Egypt." Auto Insurance reviews
