CCU to host second annual Grand Strand Choir Challenge

February 6, 2013

The second annual Grand Strand Choir Challenge takes place on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University.

The challenge features church choirs, school choirs and praise groups from across Horry County, as well as high school glee clubs. Choirs will be judged by a panel for the title of best choir on the Grand Strand. The first place winner will receive $1,500, second place $1,000 and third place $500.

Scott Mann of Wave 104.1 and Paula Caruso of WMBF News will host the challenge. Last year's event raised more than $5,000, benefiting CCU's Each One Teach One Entrepreneurship Institute.

Each 1 Teach 1 is an initiative of CCU's E. Craig Sr. Wall College of Business Administration. It's designed to provide area middle and high school students with the tools necessary to build prosperous and successful futures in education and business. Students learn how to plan for the future, work in groups, market their ideas and make effective presentations. The goal is to inspire tomorrow's leaders, who will teach the next generation how to succeed as business entrepreneurs.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door and $5 for children (ages 10 and under) and may be purchased at the Wheelwright Box Office, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Online purchases can be made at www.coastal.edu/culturalarts/tickets.

For information on registration for this event, contact Yoav Wachsman, director of the Each One Teach One Entrepreneurship Institute, at 843-349-2683 or email yoav@coastal.edu.
