'1,001 Inventions' showcases African American achievement

February 11, 2013

The Pin Points theatre group will give a performance of the comedy "1001 Inventions" on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. The show is free and open to the public.

"1001 Inventions" transports audiences into the Twighlight Zone to watch a typical American family attempting to survive in a world without inventions created by Africans and African Americans. The show demonstrates the extent to which black ingenuity is an integral part of our everyday lives.

The Pin Points theatre group is a Washington, D.C., based collective, established in 1980. The troupe creates plays and host workshops in impoverished D.C. communities. Pin Points performs across the U.S. and abroad, with performances in Asia, Canada and Germany.

The show is in conjunction with CCU's African American Legacy Celebrations.

The Recital Hall is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway.
