Children invited to CCU to celebrate Dr. Seuss birthday

February 25, 2013

Elementary school students are invited to Coastal Carolina University's Penny Hall on Friday, March 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. for an annual Read Across America celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday. Families with school age children are welcome to attend the free event.

The CCU chapter of the South Carolina Education Association presents the annual celebration of reading on the CCU campus for arts and crafts, story reading and a family viewing of the hit movie "The Lorax." Pizza, drinks, popcorn and birthday cake will be served.

First Book-Horry County board members will be among the volunteers reading their favorite Dr. Seuss books to children from 5 to 6:30 p.m., but anyone interested in being a volunteer reader is welcome to attend.

Penny Hall is located at 125 Chanticleer Drive W. For more information, call Cathy Scott, assistant professor in the Spadoni College of Education, at 843-349-6558 or email at scottc1@coastal.edu.
