CCU to host summer 2013 RoboCamp for kids

May 16, 2013

Coastal Carolina University will host the 2013 RoboCamp for rising sixth- to eighth-grade students from June 17 to 28 at the Coastal Science Center on campus.

During the two-week, interactive summer camp, participants will dive into an imaginative space mission that explores alien worlds using LEGO Mindstorm robotics as their guide. Working in small groups mentored by CCU faculty members, teams will use critical thinking and problem-solving strategies to design, build and program LEGO robotic creations that can transform an alien landscape into a habitable environment for humans. The camp will end with a graduation ceremony open to family and friends interested in seeing the many LEGO creations the campers have designed.

RoboCamp 2013 will take place weekday mornings from June 17 to June 28. Participants will meet from 9 a.m. to noon in room 300 at the Coastal Science Center, located at 301 Allied Drive in the Atlantic Center section of the CCU campus.

The cost is $70 per camper. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
