CCU appoints Jadallah as VP for online education

August 6, 2013

Coastal Carolina University has appointed Edward Jadallah to be vice president for the Coastal Office of Online Learning (COOL) and the Center for Teaching Excellence to Advance Learning (CeTeal). This new appointment will be in addition to his continuing position as the dean of the Spadoni College of Education.

Jadallah's duties as vice president are to provide leadership and strategic direction that will develop online education offerings at Coastal Carolina University. The developmental focus of online education will emphasize academic integrity, quality, growth and innovation through the coordination of both COOL and CeTeal.

With CeTeal, Jadallah will help guide its continued mission to develop consulting relationships with faculty to identify technologically relevant and meaningful learning experiences that improve student learning. With COOL, he will assist in developing the university's technology infrastructure and managing a marketing plan for the exceptional quality of online learning programs at CCU. These efforts are in relation to CCU's efforts in increasing the retention rate and bolstering growth into new areas.

Jadallah has 29 years of postsecondary teaching and administrative experience. Before joining the CCU faculty in 2010, he served as chair of the teacher education faculty and served as cooperating faculty in the School of Policy and International Affairs at the University of Maine. He earned bachelor's degrees in history and psychology from Malone College in Canton, Ohio, a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in teacher education from Ohio State University in Columbus.

"While serving as dean, Dr. Jadallah has demonstrated his knowledge and skills for teaching excellence and online education," says J. Ralph Byington, interim provost and senior vice president for academic and student affairs. "Online delivery is an increasingly important aspect of university education, and Dr. Jadallah will lead CCU efforts to develop its fullest potential while also maintaining our focus on teaching excellence."
