Percussion Ensemble brings the Caribbean to CCU

The Coastal Carolina University Percussion Ensemble presents an evening of classic and contemporary percussion music on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. A ticket is required o this public event.

Under the direction of Jesse Willis and assistant director Josh Frans, the ensemble will perform a program titled "The Widowmaker," an aggressive set of standard percussion works from the ensemble's repertoire, as well as a few new pieces written in recent years. A wide range of instruments will be used that pose challenges for each performer. Some of the program's selected pieces include "Pyroclastic Steam" by Dave Hall, "Pulse" by Vincent Wallace, "Marimbando" by Fidel Gamboa and "The Widowmaker" by Daniel Montoya Jr.

Ensemble members include CCU students Ally Abbs, Cailin Aucoin, Moses Ballard, Kyle Brewster, Justin Brooks, Nathan Culp, Bill Flynn, Tim Forline, Nate Haun, Stephen Horner, Kyle Hutton, Mark Kendree, Wade McMillan, DeAndrae Preston and Johnny Richeson.

General admission tickets are $5; CCU and HGTC students, faculty and staff are $3; and children (ages 10 and under) are free and must be accompanied by an adult.
