Fourteen Coastal Carolina University studio art and graphic design seniors will showcase their talents at the biannual Portfolios Exhibition Dec. 3 through 14 at the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery. A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, at 4:30 p.m. This event is free, with no ticket required, and is open to the public.

The portfolio exhibition is a capstone course for studio art and design majors. Showcased works, based on each student's course of study, include printmaking, painting, sculpture and photography, ceramics, puppetry, installation works and other forms of mixed media.

"Students have been training and preparing for this moment for the last four years," says James Arendt, director of the Bryan Art Gallery. He says the exhibitions are "about making art and the business end of art." For most seniors, it will be their first professional exhibition.

Studio art students presenting works in the show are Jazmin Cortes of Myrtle Beach, Amanda Nettles of Charleston and Lance Rhodes of Hartsville. Works featured by graphic arts design majors include Courtney Balliette of Hot Springs, Ark.; Katie Black of Conway; Scott Cullum of Sumter; Sarah Evans of Fishkill, N.Y.; Jenna Kazmierczak of Southport, N.C.; Alton Sanders of Hartsville; Sarah Swartz of Ramsey, N.J.; Ashleigh Wilson and Jamie Chaffin, both of Columbia; and Matthew Fram and Nathan Rood, both of Myrtle Beach.

The gallery is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway and is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
