Musky Dimes to present benefit performance at CCU

Coastal Carolina University's faculty/staff band, the Musky Dimes, will present a benefit performance of "Songs of South Carolina" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in the Edwards Theatre. The public is invited to this free concert.

The event will feature songs by artists such as Drink Small, Edwin McCain, Josh Turner, the Marshall Tucker Band, the Drifters and James Brown.

Members of the Musky Dimes are: Joe Oestreich, associate professor of English, on vocals and guitar; Steve Nagle, distinguished emeritus professor of English, on guitar; Dan Ennis, dean of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, on bass; Scott Pleasant, writing center coordinator, on keyboard; and Steve Hamelman, professor of English, on drums.

Special guest artists will include Diane Fabiano, CCU's director of annual giving, on vocals; Dan O'Reilly, CCU instructor of music, on saxophone; and Steve Hannaford, a local businessman and musician, on percussion. Dan Albergotti, professor of English and poet-in-residence at CCU, will host the event.

Donations will be accepted to benefit CCU's Sara Sanders Humanitarian Scholarship. Sanders is a distinguished professor emeritus of English at CCU.

No ticket is required for this free event.
