CCU presents flute and percussion recital

Coastal Carolina University's Department of Music presents a Flute and Percussion Studio Recital on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall. General admission is $5, CCU faculty and staff are $4 and CCU students are $3.

Students from the CCU's flute and percussion studios, under the direction of Amy Hardison Tully, associate professor of music, and Jesse Willis, assistant professor of music, will join together to present a recital of chamber music featuring flute, piccolo and various instruments from the percussion family.

Tully is a flutist in the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach. She has also performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra and others. Internationally, she has been a principal flutist on orchestral and wind symphony tours in Germany, Austria, Italy, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. At CCU, teaches flute and conducts the CCU Flute Choir. She earned a doctorate in musical arts from the University of South Carolina.

Willis is the director of percussion studies at CCU. He earned a B.M.E. and a B.M. at Texas Tech University and a M.M. from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. At CCU, Willis instructs the Spirit of the Chanticleer percussion section and directs all of the CCU percussion ensembles including the CCU Steel Pan Ensemble, CCU Brazilian Ensemble and the CCU Afro-Cuban Percussion Ensemble.

General admission is $5, $4 for CCU faculty and staff and $3 for CCU students. The Edwards Recital Hall is located in Room 152 in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts building at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway.
