The Coastal Carolina University family mourns the tragic incident that resulted in two deaths on the University of South Carolina campus today, Feb. 5. Our hearts and prayers go out to all affected by this tragedy. These kinds of incidents are among the most perplexing and difficult that college communities face. When an individual with intent to do harm penetrates the safe environment of a campus dedicated to the cause of education, we feel that our sense of humanity has been violated. As a society, we must not become numbed by such events. Rather, we must be diligent in addressing acts of senseless violence and steadfast in our efforts to make our campuses as safe as possible.
