Coastal Carolina University's Theatre Department will present eight performances of Joe Masterhoff's award-winning musical "She Loves Me" from Thursday, Feb. 19, through Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Wheelwright Auditorium. General admission is $15.

"She Loves Me," nominated for five Tony Awards in 1964, has been called by some "the most perfect musical." Set in a 1930s European perfumery, the story focuses on Budapest shop employees Georg Nowack and Amalia Balish, who are constantly at odds with one another. After both respond to a lonely hearts ad in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters they exchange, but the identities of their admirers remain unknown. The musical is an adaptation of the play "Parfumerie" by Hungarian playwright Miklós László, also the basis for the films "The Shop Around the Corner" (1940) and "You've Got Mail" (1998) starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.

Performances are set for Thursday, Feb. 19, through Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 25, through Friday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. with double shows on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3 and 7:30 p.m.

Students in the main cast are as follows: Tyler Keller, Shelby Dangerfield, Jordan Sharp, Elliot Smith, Daniel Corey Ryan, Peter Seifarth, Phillip Rast, Daniel Pippert and Brian Bruno. Steve Earnest, a professor in the Department of Theatre, will also be performing. The technical staff for the production is headed by Becky Timms, director and choreographer; Michael Gribbin, musical direction; Ken Martin, set design; and student David Quackenbush, lighting design.

"She Loves Me" was previously performed at Wheelwright Auditorium in 1998.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle in Conway. Tickets cost $15 for adults; $10 for senior citizens, alumni and CCU faculty/staff; and $5 for CCU students.
