Summer Arts Academy offered at Coastal

Coastal Carolina University's School of Continuing Studies will conduct the 2002 Coastal Summer Arts Academy during June for middle and high school students interested in intensive study in music, visual arts or dramatic arts. The fees for the programs range from $400 to $550 and include room and board, use of campus facilities and all activities provided during the camp.

The Music Academy will be held June 2 to 8 and will give students the opportunity to participate in large and small ensembles for band, string orchestra and choir, and will offer basic musicianship courses and individual lessons.

During the Visual Arts Academy, scheduled for June 2 to 12, students will receive instruction in drawing, sculpting, graphic arts, ceramics and photography.

The Dramatic Arts Academy will be held June 2 to 12 and will offer lessons in diction, audition technique, stage movement, set design, lighting, make-up and students will participate in theater games and improvisations.

Instruction for each program will be led by faculty members from Coastal's Department of Performing Arts as well as by educators from the region.

The Coastal Summer Arts Academy has been designed to meet South Carolina criteria for programs for artistically gifted students.
