‘Evening in Paris’ concert at CCU features low brass

March 5, 2015

"An Evening in Paris," a recital of French music, will be presented in the Edwards Recital Hall at Coastal Carolina University at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, featuring Chris Connolly on trombone and euphonium. General admission is $5.

The Paris Conservatory has been responsible for commissioning a vast amount of solo repertoire for many instruments, including the trombone. Connolly, a CCU lecturer who specializes in low brass, will be presenting a recital of French music for trombone and euphonium by Saint-Saëns, Casterede, Guilmant, Martin and Fauré. Rebecca Rollins will accompany him on the piano.

Connolly earned a bachelor's degree in trombone performance from the Eastman School of Music and a master's degree in jazz composition and arranging from William Paterson University. He has performed with the Long Bay Symphony, the Penfield Symphony (Penfield, N.Y.) and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under the direction of Buddy Morrow. Additional to this, he has an independently released jazz CD entitled "Since Last We Met."

The Recital Hall is in room 152 of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, located at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. on the Conway campus. Parking is available behind the building or adjacent at Brittain Hall. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, alumni and CCU faculty/staff and $3 for CCU students.
