CCU students win collegiate design contest
Three design teams of four students (two from CCU and one from ECU) competed to brand a mystery client. The event was patterned after Food Network's "Chopped," and each design team was provided with a mystery box of materials for use on the project. The teams created, photographed, documented and made a presentation to two outside judges.
The winning CCU team included senior Alex Barley, juniors Katie Riley and Theresa Calabrese and sophomore Christina Terue. Other CCU students who competed were senior Emily Englehart; juniors Madeleine Desser and Caroline Corini; and sophomore Mackenzie Wolfe.
CCU's winning team was awarded a trophy. Organizers of the competition plan to make it an annual event, with more colleges and universities participating in future events.
"This event was an amazing opportunity to expose our students to real world industry pressures such as tight deadlines, team work and competitiveness while giving our non participating design students something to get behind and root for," said Jacob Cotton, assistant professor of graphic design. "All of the students who participated gave their all and performed exceptionally well, all the faculty involved were exceptionally proud."
