Latin music to highlight Hispanic Heritage Celebration

October 20, 2015

Pasofino Social Club, a Latin musical group, will perform as part of the Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Coastal Carolina University on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Lib Jackson Student Union Movie Theater. Admission is free and open to the public.

Singer and songwriter Rick Reyes put together some of the most renowned and experienced Latin players in the New England and New York area to create the Pasofino Social Club. It is made up of a diverse group of friends who perform music ranging from Caribbean/tropical, boleros, musica del ayer, merengue, Latin jazz, Puerto Rican roots and folk, and original compositions. Reyes will be the tour guide on a musical journey that will take the audience across the Caribbean, Central America and South America in a celebration of Latin and Hispanic culture.

The Hispanic Heritage Celebration is a collaborative effort to celebrate the art, history and achievements of Hispanic Americans. The event is sponsored by CCU's Office for Multicultural Student Services.

The theater is in Room A-110 of the Student Union, located at 106 Spadoni Park Circle on the Conway campus. For more information, contact Bertha Fladger, program assistant for Multicultural Student Services, at 843-349-2863 or bcfladge@coastal.edu.
