CCU to offer Nonprofit Conference on Nov. 16 and 17

The Nonprofit Conference will be held Monday, Nov. 16, and Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach. Registrations are now being accepted for the two-day conference that will feature an array of speakers. The conference is sponsored by Coastal Carolina University's Office of Executive Development and Continuing Education (EDCE).

Tom Ralser, author of the best-selling book "ROI for Nonprofits: The New Key to Sustainability" and the recently released "Asking Rights: Why Some Nonprofits Get Funded (and Some Don't)," is the event's main speaker. His talk, titled "Asking Rights," is scheduled for 8 a.m. on Nov. 16.

Other presenters include CCU professors with business expertise, as well as G. Lee Mikell, a partner at Convergent Solutions LLC, who will speak on "Are your fundraising skills fit for a pilgrim or a turkey?" Other session topics include effective nonprofit boards, interviewing candidates for nonprofit work, social media management, accounting for nonprofits, nonprofit best practices, the science of leadership and more.

The cost of the two-day conference is $299. Registrations will be accepted until the conference begins. Marina Inn at Grande Dunes is located at 8121 Amalfi Place, Myrtle Beach. Call 843-913-1333 to make a hotel reservation.
