Malcolm X is topic of discussion for CCU forum

October 29, 2015

"The Last Year of Malcolm X: A Legacy" is the topic of a Tea and Ethics forum at Coastal Carolina University on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium. A reception will follow in the anteroom. Admission is free and open to the public.

Jeffry R. Halverson, assistant professor in CCU's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, will discuss how Malcolm X constantly renewed himself. During the last year of his life, he converted to orthodox Islam, traveled the Middle East and Africa, debated at Oxford University, and shifted his view of the civil rights struggle in America to an international struggle for human rights.

Tea and Ethics is a forum sponsored by the Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values at CCU. The Jackson Center creates opportunities for open conversations about how ethics and values affect individuals, the University, the region and the world. It aims to inspire individuals to make ethical and value-based decisions, and thus lead lives of courage, compassion and integrity.
