CCU percussion group to perform fall concert

The Coastal Carolina University World Percussion Ensemble will perform a concert on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. General admission tickets are $7, with discounts available.

The group, directed by Jesse Willis, recently won the World Percussion Ensemble Showcase Competition by the Percussive Arts Society, the highest competition in the collegiate percussion band field. The ensemble, known for its high-energy, educational approach to performing, has been featured at several music festivals, conferences and schools throughout the southeastern United States. The concert will also feature the acclaimed CCU Steel Pan Ensemble.

The percussion ensemble students are: Jacob Abarbanell, Ally Abbs, Cailin Aucoin, Moses Ballard, Justin Brooks, Nathan Culp, Antonio Forline, Kyle Hutton, Noelle Mason, Jasmine McCray, Arieal Lesure, Tyrice Murray, DeAndrae Preston, Micah Ray, Johnny Richeson, Alex Smith, Christian Stevens and Brandon Vaughn.

Senior citizens, OLLI members, alumni, teens, and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $5, and CCU/HGTC students and children's tickets are $3. To reserve a ticket, call the box office at 843-349-ARTS (2787) or visit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
