Coastal Carolina University trustees approve Brooks Stadium expansion

December 11, 2015

At its meeting today, the Board of Trustees of Coastal Carolina University authorized the University administration to move forward with plans to enhance Brooks Stadium at a cost not to exceed $38 million. The expansion is being planned in response to the recent announcement that CCU's athletic programs will join the Sun Belt Conference effective July 1, 2016. The design,by Stubbs Muldrow Herin Architects partnered with Heery International, will increase the seating capacity at Brooks Stadium to meet NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) requirements.

The board also approved changes in faculty and staff compensation, including a.5 percent increase for all faculty and staff excluding the president and members of the President's Council. Additional increases, reflecting recommendations from salary compression, were approved in the amount of a total of $400,000 for faculty and $200,000 for staff, including fringe benefits.

The board also approved land leases and donations, including property that will house a proposed soccer/track and field facility.
