CCU Percussion Ensemble performs 'At the Movies'

Coastal Carolina University's Percussion Ensemble will present "At the Movies" on Tuesday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. General admission tickets are $7, and discounts are available.

The concert, directed by Jesse Willis, assistant professor of music, will feature contemporary pieces and will use visual media in conjunction with the performance. Some of the pieces include "Science Fiction" by Rick Dior and "Invisible Men" by Nigel Westlake. Several of the compositions and multimedia pieces were also written by CCU students.

Student performers include Jacob Abarbanell, Cailin Aucoin, Justin Brooks, Kelsey Brooks, Nathan Culp, Tim Forline, Logan Gallagher, Courtney Gruber, Rachel Hansen, Natalie Francis Harris, Tyler Hughes, Kyle Hutton, Ally Lazar, Arieal Lesure, Ian Mahaffey, Jasmine McCray, Anderson Owens, DeAndrae Preston, Jose Rangel, Micah Ray, Johnny Richeson, Will Saylor and Philip Thomas.

The ensemble won the World Percussion Ensemble Showcase Competition, the highest competition in the collegiate percussion band field, in 2015.

Senior citizens, OLLI members, alumni, teens, and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $5. Tickets for children and CCU/HGTC students are $3. To purchase tickets, contact the Wheelwright Auditorium at 843-349-ARTS (2787) or visit between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets may also be purchased at ticketreturn.com. The auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the Conway campus.
