CCU Theatre presents ‘Really Really’

September 14, 2016

Coastal Carolina University's Department of Theatre presents Paul Downs Collaizo's "Really, Really," an edgy contemporary play that is sure to prompt discussion about issues confronting the "Generation Me" on college campuses. The production is scheduled for the Edwards Theatre from Wednesday, Sept. 21, through Friday, Sept. 23, and Tuesday, Sept. 27, through Friday, Sept. 30. All shows begin at 7:30, and tickets are $17, with discounts available.

Please note that "Really,Really" is a contemporary play that contains strong language, addresses adult themes and investigates issues of sexual violence. It contains material that is inappropriate for children.

"Really Really" is an intense tragic comedy that takes on the ebullient yet reckless dark side of Generation Me. The provocative, unapologetic story follows the events of a massive university party and its aftermath, when gossip, accusations and egos combine to threaten characters' otherwise bright and entitled futures.

"It's about that generation -- born between the 1970s and '90s -- and what happens when they're confronted with a serious situation," said director and CCU associate professor of theatre Robin Edwards-Russell. "There's a lot of tension -- raw tension. It's along the lines of who is the victim and who is the predator. And you will laugh -- some laughs are uneasy, and some are gut-busting."

The cast includes CCU sophomores Dalton Hedrick as Davis, Gavin Carnahan as Johnson, Noah Pelty as Jimmy, Dara Potts as Leigh, Amelia Dobbs as Grace, junior Wes Williams as Cooper and senior Kathryn Albers as Haley. Cast members will be available after every performance for discussion and questions.

General admission is $17. Senior citizens, OLLI members, CCU alumni, teens and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff are $12. CCU/HGTC students can purchase tickets for $5. There will be no final weekend Saturday matinee or evening performances of this show.
