"Miracle at St. Anna," a 2008 film that follows four African-American soldiers during World War II, will be shown on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m. in the Coastal Theater in the Lib Jackson Student Union, Room A-110. The event is free and open to the public.

Set in 1944 Italy, "Miracle at St. Anna" follows four black soldiers trapped in a Tuscan village during World War II. The film, based on the 2003 novel by James McBride, is the second movie in the War & Society Film Series this fall, which focuses on showing and discussing what happens to societies during periods of war. "Miracle at St. Anna," directed by Spike Lee, stars Michael Ealy, Kerry Washington and D.B. Sweeney. The movie has a running time of 2 hours, 40 minutes. CCU professor of history Maggi Morehouse will lead a discussion on race, identity, nationalism and citizenship in war and the military following the film.

Other events in the series include "The English Patient" on Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. and "Indochine" on Nov. 8. at 5 p.m. The Lib Jackson Student Union is located at 100 Spadoni Park Circle.
