CCU sets Economic Growth Summit for Sept. 30

Coastal Carolina University's Economic Growth and Real Estate Summit will take place on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the community.

This year's summit will feature guest speakers who are experts in their respective fields: M .Dek Terrell, executive director of the Economics & Policy Research Group at Louisiana State University; Dipka Bhambhani, director of communications for the United States Energy Association; Blake Sanders, associate at Alta Planning+Design; Dennis Wade, CEO of The Jackson Companies; Gary Gilmore, CCU's head baseball coach; and Matthew Hogue, CCU's director of athletics. Robert Salvino, associate professor of economics and associate director of CCU's Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development, will provide his yearly financial forecast for the region.

Registration and breakfast begins at 8 a.m. The summit starts at 9 a.m. and will be separated into three segments: a morning economic session, a luncheon and awards ceremony and an afternoon real estate session. To attend all three segments, the cost is $75 per person, or $30 per session.

Registration is requested by Thursday, Sept. 29. A $5 fee will be added for registrations on the day of the event.

The Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort is located at 10000 Beach Club Drive.

The daylong event is sponsored by CCU's Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. Other sponsors include Sutton Park Estates Corporation, Martin Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Horry County Government, Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority, the Burroughs & Chapin Co. and the Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors.

The Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development is housed in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration and was established through a major gift from Tony and Carrie Grant. The center serves as an information hub for real estate and economic data provides an industry-focused, collaborative environment where students, faculty members and the real estate industry can gain and share knowledge, information and international real estate business experiences.
