CCU presents Broadway revue ‘The World Goes ’Round’

November 2, 2016

The Coastal Carolina University Department of Theatre presents "The World Goes 'Round" onstage at the Myrtle Beach Education Center from Wednesday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 12, at 3 and 7:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $17, and discounts are available.

"The World Goes 'Round" is a musical revue of the Academy Award- and Tony Award-winning songwriting duo of John Kander and Fred Ebb. The production covers their prolific Broadway careers and draws from hit shows such as "Cabaret," "Kiss of the Spider Woman," "Funny Lady" and "Chicago."

"Kander and Ebb wrote some of the most iconic music in the musical theatre canon," said director Adam Pelty, CCU assistant professor of theatre. "The seven performers in the production weave in and out of their very best songs while dancing and even roller skating. There is quite a lot of dance, in songs like 'All That Jazz' and 'The Money Song' from 'Cabaret.' For CCU's advanced musical theatre students, the production provides a proving ground for displaying considerable artistry through the lens of excellent material."

The CCU student cast includes Ethan Babson, Francesca Brown, Christina Daves, John Dudley, Kelly Kapur, Paige Mason and Corey Ryan.

General admission is $17. Senior citizens, OLLI members, CCU alumni, teens and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff are $12. CCU/HGTC students can purchase tickets for $5.
