CCU politics professors host post-election forum

Coastal Carolina University will hold an Election Reflection discussion on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall (Room 117) of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts building. This event is free and open to the public.

Professors from CCU's Department of Politics will analyze and discuss the results of the Nov. 8 presidential election in a post-election forum. The panelists include Adam Chamberlain, associate professor, and assistant professors Kaitlin Sidorsky and Drew Kurlowski. They will analyze the results in the context of what political scientists know about campaign strategy and electoral outcomes. The panelists will examine how the winning margins in the election might impact governing strategy for the new president and Congress. The audience is invited to participate in a Q&A session following the forum.

Chamberlain earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research interests include political parties, interest groups, public opinion and state politics. Chamberlain's research has been published in American Politics Research and State Politics & Policy Quarterly.

Sidorsky earned masters and doctoral degrees from Brown University and a bachelor's degree in politics and law from Bryant University. Her research involves the role that gender plays in politics.

Kurlowski earned a master's degree in government from the University of Virginia, a bachelor's degree in political science and a Ph.D. in American politics from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He studies campaigns and elections, voting behavior, political parties and American political thought.
