Aerial dancers to showcase trapeze, dance talents at CCU

November 17, 2016

The Coastal Carolina University Cultural Arts Committee presents Fly-by-Night Dance Theater on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Admission is $12-$17 with reserved seating, and discounts are available.

The Fly-by-Night Dance Theater will perform "Retrospectives," an evening of repertory that showcases movement, storytelling and expression through aerial dance. Performances partner low-flying trapeze and harnesses with elements of modern dance, acrobatics and ballet.

The selected works span the history of the New York City-based company's 17 years, with each exploring a distinct territory of emotion, including regret, inspiration and loss. Artistic director Julie Ludwick created the program as a series of excerpts from the company's full-length, multidisciplinary productions.

Featured performers include dancers Janet Aisawa, Elise Knudson, Ludwick and Summer Tennyson Baldwin, with live music by Paul Uhry Newman.

For tickets, call the Wheelwright Box Office at 843-349-ARTS (2787), email culturalarts@coastal.edu or visit coastal.edu/culturalarts. Box office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The box office and auditorium are located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the Conway campus.
