CCU to host ninth annual ‘Isn’t It Romantic?’ concert

Terri Sinclair directs the CCU Concert and Chamber Choirs

The ninth annual "Isn't It Romantic?" choral concert will be presented Monday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University. General admission is $7, with discounts available.

The event features the CCU Concert and Chamber Choirs performing jazz classics, along with a broad spectrum of styles, including musical theater and popular numbers. Choral selections include "Set Me as a Seal" by Richard Nance and works from the Brahms Liebeslieder (Love Song) waltzes. Contemporary selections include "Time after Time" by Cyndi Lauper and "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds, with arrangement by Kerry Marsh.

Terri Sinclair, associate professor of music and director of choral activities at CCU, will direct the performance. Sinclair earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Music from Florida State University and a Doctorate of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has been selected as a conductor for the Mid-America Productions Carnegie Hall Concert Series. Sinclair has also been the invited clinician for the S.C. High School Women's Honor Choir.

Dan O'Reilly, CCU lecturer of music, will join the choir on the saxophone. O'Reilly directs the CCU saxophone ensemble and POP 101, the University's contemporary music ensemble.

Stevie Martinez, CCU teaching associate of music, will perform on bass. Martinez instructs electric and double bass performance.

CCU/HGTC faculty and staff, senior citizens (65+), OLLI members, CCU alumni and teens (11-17 years) are $5. Children and CCU/HGTC students are $3 with a student ID. Tickets can be purchased in Wheelwright Auditorium Box Office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
