CCU graphic design students hold senior exhibit

Graduating seniors from Coastal Carolina University's Department of Visual Arts: Graphic Design will present their thesis work in "Portfolios I: Senior Exhibition." The exhibit will be open Monday, April 10, through Friday, April 21, in the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

A gallery reception will be held Thursday, April 20, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Both the exhibit and the gallery reception are free and open to the public.

"Portfolios I" features work by graphic design students Brianna Barnes, from Murrells Inlet, S.C.; Sophie Brunett, from Clarksburg, W.Va.; Theresa Calabrese, from Meriden, Conn.; Itzi Duarte, from Irvine, Calif.; Erica Goodwin, from Laurens, S.C.; Jasmine Kennedy, from Greenville, S.C.; Mary Carter Lewis, from Greenville, S.C.; Jesse Lindler, from Chapin, S.C.; Meghan McGirr, from Kearny, N.J.; Lauren Peifer, from St. Louis, Mo.; Kristin Pisano, from Hamilton, N.J.; Amy Reif, from Dayton, Ohio; Alicia Shirah, from Longs, S.C.; Rachel Sickinger, from Boston, Mass.; Kamron Summers, from Statesville, S.C.; Christina Teruel, from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Madia Walker, from Virginia Beach, Va.; Charity Williams, from Columbia, S.C.; Mackenzie Wolfe, from Kennett Square, Pa.; and Haley Yarborough, from North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

"This exhibition is the first professional presentation of design ideas and projects students have developed independently during their studies," said Jeffrey Case, CCU associate professor of visual arts. "Topics range from packaging and publication to interactive and print design. These are self-driven and executed endeavors, guided by the faculty, that prepare students for creative careers."

The art gallery is in Room 129 of the Edwards College, located at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For additional information, contact gallery director James Arendt at jarendt@coastal.edu or 843-349-6409.
