April 24, 2017

Graduating seniors from Coastal Carolina University's Department of Visual Arts: Art Studio will present their thesis work in "Portfolios II: Senior Exhibition Art Studio." The exhibit will be open Wednesday, April 26, through Friday, May 5, in the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

A gallery reception will be held Thursday, May 4, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Both the exhibit and the gallery reception are free and open to the public.

"Portfolios II" features work by art studio students Sara Becker, from Pottstown, Pa.; Peyton Busby, from Stephenville, Texas; Skylar Delaney, from Metuchen, N.J.; Kayla Harllee, from Graniteville, S.C; Morgan Hedgecock, from Summerfield, N.C.; Kaileigh McCabe, from Rock Hill, S.C.; Sarah Richardson, from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Meagan Runyon, from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Caleb Sarvis, from Loris, S.C.; Elizabeth Simpson, from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Haley Smith, from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Christina Teruel, from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Nick Carmichael, from Loris, S.C.

"These exhibitions are the first professional presentation of ideas and projects students have developed independently," said James Arendt, assistant professor of art studio and director of the Bryan Gallery. "The experience prepares them to operate in their disciplines immediately upon graduation. These are self-driven and executed endeavors, guided by the faculty, that prepare them for creative careers."

The art gallery is in Room 129 of the Edwards College, located at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
