Ten Coastal Carolina University guitar students will present a concert Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Tickets are $7, with discounts available.

The concert will showcase the students of Daniel Hull, lecturer of music, and will include solo performances, a guitar and flute duet and a performance by the CCU Guitar Ensemble under Hull's direction.

"We will be performing music from the 1600s through the 21st century, with music by such masters as J.S. Bach, Leo Brouwer, Miguel Llobet and Frédéric Chopin," said Hull.

Students include seniors Cynthea Kelley from Myrtle Beach; Chris Scheu from Myrtle Beach; Santos Salazer from Silver Spring, Md.; and Jack Graham from Marion.; juniors Thomas Probert from Conway; and Brenna Kellod (flutist) from West Fargo, N.D.; sophomores Willie Newman from Columbia; and Marcus Cannon from Salem; and freshmen Zack Jones from Myrtle Beach; and Christian Jedele from Little Falls, N.J.

Hull has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean and is currently an ensemble musician and active soloist. He earned a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in guitar performance from the Eastman School of Music while studying with Nicolas Goluses.

For CCU music students, the opportunity to perform on stage adds a professional dimension to their experience.

"Performing at concerts has been a new opportunity for me to grow in my ability to communicate with the audience through music," said Kelley, a senior classical guitarist.

Senior citizens, OLLI members, CCU and HGTC alumni, teenagers, and CCU and HGTC faculty and staff are $5 per ticket. Tickets for children and CCU/HGTC students are $3.
