PrepareAthon! Day of Action to engage CCU students

September 25, 2017

As part of National Preparedness Month, Coastal Carolina University is participating in America's PrepareAthon! - a nationwide, community-based campaign for action meant to increase emergency preparedness and resilience. CCU's fourth annual PrepareAthon! Day of Action will host multiple local agencies on Sept. 28, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on CCU's Prince Lawn. The event is free and open to the public.

The University community can interact with emergency response agencies and find out "Are You CCU Ready?' through the Preparedness Pursuit game. Participants who complete the game will win a free CCU T-shirt. Participants can also perform certain emergency response actions, try out emergency equipment, and pick up some sweet treats and free giveaways.

"While Coastal Carolina University is committed to managing any emergency or disaster that may affect the University community, we can improve our ability to recover quickly when each individual is prepared," CCU's Emergency Management Director Carissa Medeiros said. "The PrepareAthon provides a great opportunity for students, faculty and staff to learn how to prepare and respond to potential emergencies on campus."
