CCU hosts collaborative luncheon for faculty and nonprofits

September 28, 2017

Coastal Carolina University's fifth annual Campus and Community Research Collaborative (CCRC) is set for Thursday, Oct. 12, with an expanded program across multiple venues. The event connects community nonprofits with faculty members for collaborative research partnerships.

CCRC kicks off with its Newcomers Orientation in the James J. Johnson Auditorium in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at 8:30 a.m. Breakout sessions follow at 10 a.m., including "Experiential Learning through Community Partnerships" and "Reciprocal Partnerships: When It Works."

Keynote speakers are from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Controls and include FW. Marshal, director of Applied Science and Community Engagement; and Nick Davidson, director of Community Health Services, who ensures service delivery of DHEC's community health clinics. The speakers are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

The signature event of CCRC remains its speed-dating-style luncheon scheduled at 1 p.m. in Atheneum Hall. During this time, CCU faculty members engage one on one with community partners in hopes of creating "dynamic student learning outcomes," according to coordinator Amy Edmunds.

CCRC is supported by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Emerging Initiatives.

Pre-registration is requested. Attendees may register for the specific activities or the entire day at coastal.edu/ccrc.
