Free screening of ‘Paris Je T’Aime’ scheduled at CCU

“Paris Je T’aime”

"Paris Je T'aime," the 2006 romance anthology film, will be screened Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. in the Coastal Theater as part of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Foreign Language Blockbusters film series. The movie is free and open to the public.

Created by a team of more than 20 international directors, including Joel and Ethan Cohen, Wes Craven, Alfonso Cuarón and Walter Salles, the film consists of 18 vignettes involving romance in the city of love. Each story is dedicated to one of the city's arrondissements (districts). The film is in French, English, Spanish, Arabic and Mandarin with English subtitles.

Following the screening, Rimma Ableeva, assistant professor of languages and intercultural studies, will lead a discussion on the historical and cultural significance of he film.

"We hope that with the screening of 'Paris Je T'aime,' audience members will witness the unique portrayal of various cultural contexts as well as Paris' districts and tourist attractions," said Ableeva. "The ethnic, religious and social diversity of France, as depicted in the film, will provide a great opportunity to compare the audience's own cultural realities with those shown in the film." This film is rated R and contains content that may be inappropriate for children.

The Coastal Theater is located in Room A-110 of the Lib Jackson Student Union at 106 Spadoni Park Circle on the CCU main campus in Conway. Parking is available in lots E and MM; visit coastal.edu/safety/parking.
