CCU Percussion Ensemble to perform fall concert

October 31, 2017

Coastal Carolina University's Percussion Ensemble will perform its fall concert on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Tickets are $7, with discounts available.

Under the direction of Jesse Willis, associate professor of music, the Percussion Ensemble performs a wide variety of music composed specifically for percussion instruments. The group's repertoire includes 20th-century works by composers including John Cage, Edgard Varese and Steve Reich as well as recent composers such as David Gillingham, Bob Becker and John Psathas. The ensemble also performs pieces composed by CCU faculty, students and local composers.

"The compositions featured in this concert are both versatile and engaging from a wide fusion of styles," said Willis. "I have no doubt audience members will leave wowed by the talent and technical prowess of our players."

The CCU Percussion Ensemble has been featured at the South Carolina Music Educators Conference and the South Carolina Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion.

General admission is $7. Senior Citizens, OLLI members, CCU alumni, teens and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff are $5. Tickets for children and CCU/HGTC students are $3.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the main Conway campus.
