Bush sisters to speak at WIPL’s eighth annual Women’s Leadership Celebration

Barbara Pierce Bush and Jenna Bush Hager, daughters of President George W. and Laura Bush, will be the opening speakers at the eighth annual Women's Leadership Conference scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 8 a.m. at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Conference Center. Presented by Women in Philanthropy and Leadership (WIPL) for Coastal Carolina University, the conference will also feature a Tidelands Health daylong expo titled "Better! Be strong. Be healthy. Be you."

Bush is CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps, which mobilizes a global community of young leaders to build the movement for health equity. Hager is a contributing correspondent on NBC's Today show and an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine. Conference speakers also include author Cara Brookins; Julia Landauer, a two-time NASCAR champion driver; Barbara Hickman Whye, vice president of human resources and chief diversity and inclusion officer at Intel Corp.; and Joan Robinson-Berry, vice president and general manager of Boeing South Carolina.

Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, 6 p.m., Celebration of Inspiring Women

The Celebration of Inspiring Women honors remarkable individuals and celebrates their contributions to our state, region, nation and world. The awards were created as an important and lasting way to recognize the incredible achievements of women with ties to South Carolina. Since the program's inception in 2011, 37 women have been recognized. Joan Robinson-Berry will be an honoree at the Celebration of Inspiring Women.
