CCU invites Teal Nation to participate in #givingTEALtuesday on Nov. 28

November 28, 2017

Coastal Carolina University will hold its second #givingTEALtuesday on Nov. 28 in conjunction with #GivingTuesday, an annual day of giving that encourages philanthropy worldwide. The event is held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Chad Casselman, a 1998 CCU computer science graduate who lives in Myrtle Beach, has made a generous lead gift in support of #givingTEALtuesday. All members of Teal Nation - alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends - are invited to join Casselman in supporting CCU's students.

Donations can be made to one or more of the following nine endowed scholarship funds: E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, Spadoni College of Education, Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, College of Science, University College, CCU Alumni Association, Women in Philanthropy and Leadership for CCU, Chanticleer Athletics, and the I'M IN endowment campaign. Endowed funds are one of the most vital sources of funding, as they provide a stable, ongoing source of income to ensure the University provides access to a comprehensive liberal arts education.

Several area businesses, including Bellamy Law Firm, Eggs Up Grill at University Shoppes Plaza, Myrtle Ridge Firehouse Subs and area Krispy Kreme locations, are also showing their support for #givingTEALtuesday. They are donating a portion of their total sales on Nov. 28 to the campaign, making a one-time donation or providing gift cards. In addition, the Carolina Opry donated $15 from each ticket sold online through a specific link for its "The Christmas Show of the South" performances that were held on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

To make a gift during #givingTEALtuesday on Nov. 28, go to coastal.edu/gtt, text GTT to 41444 or visit the donation tables on Prince Lawn or outside the Lib Jackson Student Union. For more information, contact Sarah Craig, associate director of annual giving, at 843-349-2009.
