CCU Concert Choir to perform annual holiday concert

Coastal Carolina University Department of Music presents its 18th annual Choral and Holiday Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Conway. Tickets are $7, with discounts available.

The concert features CCU's Concert Choir under the direction of Timothy Koch, teaching associate in the Department of Music, with performances by Amy Tully, associate professor of music and associate dean of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, on flute and Rebecca Rollins on piano accompaniment.

The program includes classic Christmas pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Felix Mendelssohn as well as international pieces including Italian, Nigerian, French and Moravian carols. Other highlights include traditional Chanukah pieces and original works by Andrew Fowler, teaching associate in the Department of Music. Lighter works round out the program with a version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and gospel piece "Go Where I Send Thee."

Student vocal soloists include Kevin Arnold, tenor, freshman from North Augusta, S.C.; Hannah Battley, mezzo-soprano, freshman from Loris, S.C.; Maria Boissonneault, soprano, from Portland, Maine; Drake Cunningham, tenor, freshman from Franklin, Tenn; Ashton Fowler, soprano, sophomore from Conway, S.C.; Megan Hoffman, soprano, junior from Charleston, S.C.; Ariel Roebuck, mezzo-soprano, junior from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Gabrielle Sciortino, soprano, junior from Myrtle Beach, S.C.

"We'll include a variety of familiar and new carols in many different styles featuring talented young soloists," said Koch. "The audience will leave the show humming it up for the holidays."

General admission is $7. Senior citizens, OLLI members, CCU alumni, teens and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff are $5. Tickets for children and CCU/HGTC students are $3.

The First United Methodist Church of Conway is located at 1001 Fifth Avenue in Conway.
