Coastal Carolina University celebrates Women’s History Month

March 2, 2018

To celebrate Women's History Month, the Women's and Gender Studies program at Coastal Carolina University has launched a unique webpage to highlight and honor the women who have helped build and strengthen the University since its founding in 1954. Several events are planned throughout the month as well that are free and open to the public.

Highlighted on the webpage are current students, graduate students, alumnae, faculty and staff who have all contributed to Coastal Carolina over the years.

"Women's History Month offers a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the impact women have had on our local community and communities globally," said Ina Seethaler, director of the Women's and Gender Studies program at CCU. "It is also an important time to analyze issues that are still holding women back and to contemplate ways to bring about lasting social change."

Here is a snapshot of events happening throughout the month of March. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Visit coastal.edu/wgst/ccuwomen or coastal.edu/wgst for additional details. Contact Seethaler at 843-349-6919 or iseethale@coastal.edu.
