Five-time Grammy-winning composer and big-band leader Maria Schneider presents a lecture about her music, career and advocacy at 7:30 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall. Schneider is an internationally renowned composer who works primarily with the NYC-based Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra.

The Department of History presents a screening of "A Love to Hide" (2005) at 5 p.m. in the Coastal Theater, Lib Jackson Student Union (Room A110). Following the screening, a faculty member from the Department of History leads a discussion on the film's cultural and historical context.

CCU students, faculty, staff and administrators present a panel discussion exploring questions and issues involved in being transgender in today's college environment at 4:30 p.m. in Johnson Auditorium (Wall Room 116). Questions include: What does daily life entail for transgender students, faculty members and staff members at CCU? What CCU policies are beneficial or problematic for transgender individuals? What CCU services are available for transgender students?

LECTURE Narrative theorist Peter Rabinowitz, professor of comparative literature at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., presents a lecture titled "Out of Context, in Your Heart" exploring "narrative flavor" - those favorite moments we all have in novels (and films and music) to which we return again and again - at 6 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall.

Jasmine Choi, flutist, opens the South Carolina Flute Society Spring Festival with a recital of traditional and contemporary music for flute and piano at 7:30 p.m. in Edwards Recital Hall. Choi is a full-time soloist performing more than 100 concerts each season and has recorded several solo CDs under the Sony Classical label.

Pianist Jerry Wong performs a recital at 4 p.m. in Edwards Recital Hall. Wong has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. His performances, recordings and interviews have been broadcast on Finnish National Radio and Radio Video Mediterranean (Italy). Wong is associate professor of piano at Kent State University in Ohio.
