Coastal Carolina University lacrosse player Harley Barrett was named Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Defensive Player of the Year May 2 at the season-ending awards banquet in Jacksonville.

Four Chanticleers earned first team honors, while two picked up second team recognition. Three freshman were tabbed on the all-freshman team, and five student-athletes made the all-academic team. Head coach Kristen Selvage was named ASUN Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Barrett was selected as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and over the course of the season she showed why. The Perkiomenville, Pa., native led the ASUN in save percentage with .486 and was second in saves with 154. Throughout the 2018 season, the junior goalie was honored with the Defensive Player of the Week award four times.

Barrett, Haley Kyger, Haley Alexander and Megan Kilpatrick were named to the 2018 ASUN First Team All-Conference team. Emily D'Orsaneo (2017 ASUN All-Freshman Team) and Sophie Crowther earned second team honors, while newcomers Jordan Harrell and Julia Imbo, along with redshirt freshman Megan Busch, were selected for the 2018 ASUN All-Freshman Team.

Madeline Bromley, a communication major with a 3.96 GPA, and Kyger, a management major with a 3.88 GPA, were unanimous selections on the all-academic team. Joining them are Alexander with a 3.67 GPA in biology, two-time all-academic selection D'Orsaneo with 3.87 GPA in biology, and Haley Wells, a 3.85 GPA in marine science, as the five student-athletes from Coastal on the 2018 ASUN All-Academic Team.

The Chanticleers finished out the regular season defeating Old Dominion 16-5 in Norfolk, Va., at 9-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference to clinch the No. 2 seed.
