The first day of classes has traditionally been the busiest day of the year for CHANT411 at Coastal Carolina Univeristy and Aug. 20, 2018, didn't buck tradition.

The popular information service fielded 1,354 questions on Monday via text, phone, email and social media. This does not include questions asked by people walking up to the CHANT411 desk in the student union.

The 1,354 questions beats the previous record set in 2017 by more than 100. In 2017, the first day of classes was Aug. 21, and CHANT411 had 1,195 inquiries. During the first 10 days of classes last year, they had 7,638 inquiries, an average of 764 questions per day.

CHANT411 also set up four satellite locations throughout campus and had staff riding around on adult tricycles in order to boost visibility and helpfulness. They also handed out teal doughnuts the first two days of classes and gave away 5,000 free wings during Organization Kickoff Day Wednesday, Aug. 22, to celebrate their five-year anniversary this year.
