Michael King is the recipient of the 2019 Jason Ammons Free Enterprise Award, given annually by the Wall College of Business.

Michael King, owner of KingOne Properties in Myrtle Beach and vice chair of CCU's Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics Advisory Board, is the recipient of the 2019 Jason Ammons Free Enterprise Award, given annually by Coastal Carolina University's E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration.

The Jason Ammons Free Enterprise Award was created by the family of the late Jason Ammons, a Myrtle Beach businessman, and recognizes individuals whose careers have combined entrepreneurial excellence and responsible citizenship.

Jason and Tena Ammons were founding owners in the 1950s of the Sea Mist Resort of Myrtle Beach, a legacy currently served by two generations of their family. Past award recipients include William H. "Billy" Alford and Clay Brittain Jr.

"We are honored that Michael King has connected with Coastal Carolina University through the Advisory Board of the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics and through speaking events with entrepreneur, real estate and other students," said Barbara Ritter, dean of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. "We thank Michael for the things that he has done to impart his wisdom onto students at Coastal Carolina University, as well as the things he has done in the local community."

King is a prominent businessman and is active in his community, with a focus on helping child-affiliated charities. He is the co-chairman of fundraising for an Horry County safe house for mothers and children who are victims of domestic violence; president of 2 Live Beyond, a local charity that raises money for eight different children's charities; and an advisory board member of the WALBER foundation, an organization that helps children have the courage to achieve their dreams.

"Children have always been my platform. I am really passionate about helping the younger generations achieve what they want to achieve, live out their dreams, and do what they want to do," said King.

King, a native of Myrtle Beach, started his real estate career at 19 while he was a student at Coastal Carolina College. Over the years, he has marketed, sold, and developed properties that have won local, regional, national and international recognition. KingOne Properties has locations in Myrtle Beach; Charleston, S.C.; Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Toronto.

"I am so honored and humbled to receive this award and will always continue to strive to better myself each day. Just to be mentioned in the same group as Mr. Alford and Mr. Brittan, two gentlemen I have always admired and looked up to, is such a humbling experience," said King.

King resides in Myrtle Beach with his wife, Victoria, son, Christian, and two daughters, Giselle and Luciana.
